Dad liked songs,
He himself was a reasonably good singer. Dad liked to see me leading the singing team in the church. He used to sing aloud Fr. Berchman's songs. In particular he liked-"Nesarae Umthiru Paatham Amarnthaen nimmathy nimmathiyae" He liked "Daesamae Bayappadaathey, Magizhndu Kalikooru". What a friend we have in JESUS was his confession song.
He always used to encourage me to sing songs like "One Way JESUS" by HILLSONGS,"In my Life LORD, be glorified". "Why can't you sing this song in the church" he quipped on occassions that made him hear me belt out these songs which were my favorites too.
I sang, with guitar in hand, this song which says "Neerae En Thanjam, Neerae En Kottai" as soon as I heard my dad's death. I cried to my GOD and asked why He took my dad away. I reached home and cried uncontrollably with violence that pushed me to seek retribution for every act of cruelty that was meted out on my dad. I picked that guitar again and tearfully sang numbers that expressed my heart's broken pieces. "En vinnappathai Kaetpavarae, En kanneerai kaanbavarae"
At church, when people queued up to pay those last homages and floral respects, I cried with heart renting sobs, that could have brought the 200 Year old St.John's Church's roof down.
I picked the guitar again and sang "Neerae En Thanjam, Neerae En Kottai" I have lead hundreds of people into Praise and Worship since then, but seldom do people hear my sobbing sounds that I sing in melancholic melodies, when I get back to my home town.
My sobs are the REQUIEM for you my dearest Daddy.......kisses for you my dear Father.
Your Loving Son
